Damn...
TIME TO RECAP!
Yesterday was astoundingly fun!! The fun didn't start until late afternoon when the parents and my grandma J. drove to the pumpkin patch we usually visit every year. Although my dad was pouting because he was tired from running fifteen miles in the morning, my mom, my grandma and I enjoyed our search. We picked HUGE pumpkins! Five for us and two for grandma. After our finds, mom and I purchased a roasted corn.
It was about five o'clock when the parents and I carved open the pumpkins (excluding two of them - a Cinderella pumpkin and a miniature pumpkin). We collected TONS of seeds! Mom and I were talking as we cleaned the pumpkins until I brought up bowling. For some reason, it sounded like a great idea. Mom jokingly said, "Let's go!" yet I knew she had to stay home and cook the seeds. I tried pushing the thought aside. But it continued to bother me! I didn't know how to satisfy the notion...
Then, I asked mom, "What if I did go out bowling tonight?" She asked, "With who?" I pondered... and said, "With Scott." She paused... before saying, "See ya!"
I couldn't believe it. The time had struck eight o'clock once mom prepped for baking the seeds. I wondered if it was a trap... I acknowledged her fluent answer; "You would really allow me to go out around eight-nine o'clock at night?" She said, "Yea. You're older than 18. And you're going to be with someone." Suddenly, the song "Freedom" sung by George Michael began to play in my head.
I sent a text to Scott asking if he was doing anything that night. He said he wasn't, just finishing up work. I asked how far away his work is from Southcenter. He told me it's thirty minutes. I didn't know if he was willing to drive thirty minutes to ACME Bowling Alley to hang out with me. However, to my surprise, he said he would love to join. He explained his shift doesn't end until ten o'clock. I decided I would leave the house around 10:10 to meet him.
At 9:50, I dressed. At 10:10, I hugged my mom goodbye before hopping into my car and driving fifteen minutes to ACME Bowling Alley.
ACME was packed... I waited for Scott. When we noticed each other, I rushed up to him and embraced him. The last time we saw one another was a year ago for a Steam Powered Giraffe concert. Once entering together, we asked the people at the counter how long the wait would be to snatch a lane. They said, "An hour." Scott and I didn't want to leave and find some other place to hang out at. So, we walked around the area, sharing stories of what our lives have been like since the last time we saw each other.
After our walk, we entered ACME again. We requested a reservation. We took a seat at a booth, watching other's bowl, and continued to talk. We discussed college, video games, movies... anything we could think of that was interesting. I ordered a Shirley Temple. Scott ordered a beer. Forty-five minutes later, our reservation was called. We grabbed our shoes and hurried to alley number twenty-four. For an hour, we screamed at the top of our lungs at each other from the ear-bleeding-ly loud music. But we had a blast. We laughed. We teased. We threw strikes. We influenced one another. We sang along to classic songs.
I needed last night.
When our hour was up, we wanted to pay for another hour. Yet the intercom stated ACME was closing at one. It was 12:45... Bummed, but satisfied, we cleaned our station, gave the people at the counter our bowling shoes, prior to walking out of ACME and towards my car.
Scott and I acted as though we didn't want to leave. I had more fun than I have had in a long... long time. So much happiness. I caused myself a stomachache from constantly laughing!
We talked for a little longer - about ten minutes. Then, I hugged Scott goodbye. I hopped into my car and drove home.
I wasn't tired. I wanted to continue the fun! Yet when I laid my head on my pillow, I fell asleep in a matter of seconds.
Let the good times roll.
